Do I get a 3D virtual gallery with my session?
Yes - every Opus Lumière session of two hours or more includes The Growing Gallery, a private, password-protected 3D gallery of your finished photographs that you walk through and share with family. It is free for two years and gains a floor with every shoot. One-hour and 1.5-hour sessions don’t include it.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
Light cloud or overcast skies are actually ideal - soft, even, flattering light. We only reschedule for heavy rain, thunderstorms or unsafe conditions, and rescheduling is then complimentary. We watch the forecast and decide together, usually 24 to 48 hours before, with your booking carried over in full to the new date.
What should we wear?
Think coordinated, not matching - three or four complementary colours, with each person comfortable. Earthy tones and soft pastels sit beautifully against green parks and golden light. Avoid busy patterns and large logos, add a few layers for texture, and wear shoes suited to grass or trails.
Can we bring the family dog?
Often, yes - many London parks are dog-friendly and pets make for lovely, natural photographs. Just let us know in advance so we can plan the location and timing.
How to take outdoor family photos?
Go an hour before sunset, put the sun behind or beside the family rather than in their eyes, and keep everyone moving - walking, swinging a child, racing to a tree - so the expressions stay real. Get down to the children’s height, take far more frames than you think you need, and choose a spot with open grass and a bit of shade. Or hand the camera to us and be in the photos yourself.
What is the best colour to wear for outdoor family photos?
Earthy tones and soft pastels - sage, rust, cream, denim blue, mustard - sit beautifully against greens and golden light, and three or four complementary colours across the family beat matching outfits. Avoid neon, bright white and busy patterns, which pull the eye away from faces.
