Family Photoshoot at Home in London
Relaxed family photographs in your own home across London - familiar rooms, familiar toys, and children who behave like themselves because nothing is unfamiliar.
A photographer - Joy or Annie - will call you back within one working day. No obligation.
Home is where your family already knows how to be.
The hardest part of most family shoots is the first twenty minutes, when everyone is somewhere new and quietly self-conscious. At home that part does not happen. The children carry on doing what they were doing, you are not managing a journey, and the photographs start from the moment we arrive rather than once everyone has settled.

What it is
What an at-home family photoshoot actually looks like
It is a lifestyle session rather than a portrait sitting. We photograph what already happens in your house - breakfast, reading on the sofa, the game that gets played every afternoon - and shape it gently rather than staging it. The result looks like your family because it is your family, in the room where you spend most of your time.
That does not mean it is unstructured. We plan a loose running order before we arrive, so there is a shape to the session and nobody is standing around wondering what happens next. It simply means the children are not being asked to sit still and smile on command, which is the thing that goes wrong in most family shoots.
It suits families with babies and toddlers particularly well, because naps, feeds and meltdowns are all easier to absorb at home than halfway across London. It also suits families who want the house itself in the pictures - the first home, the nursery, the kitchen table everyone grew up around.

Kind words
Loved by London families
“Joy and Annie absolutely nailed it. From the moment we arrived to the last click, they made sure we felt seen and heard.”
“Our family photos turned out beautifully, and the experience was so relaxed and enjoyable. The results exceeded our expectations.”
“Their artistic vision and impeccable attention to detail left us with breath-taking images that will last a lifetime.”
Your home
What we need from your space, which is less than you think
One window is genuinely enough. We work with available light wherever possible, so the brightest room in the house is usually the one we start in, whatever it happens to be used for.
You do not need to tidy for us. A lived-in room photographs better than a staged one, and we frame around anything you would rather not see. If there is a corner you love or a chair that means something, tell us and we will build frames around it.
Bring nothing, prepare nothing. If the children have a favourite book or a game that always works, have it to hand - not as a prop, but because a child doing something they enjoy is far easier to photograph than a child being asked to pose.
The session
How an at-home family session runs
We start slowly. The first few minutes are for the children to get used to us being there, and we photograph through that rather than waiting for it to finish - some of the best frames come from the part where nobody is paying attention to the camera yet. Its shape is The FOCUS Method, the same five steps we follow on every shoot.
From there we move through the house, following the light and the mood. We direct where it helps, mostly by giving you something to do rather than a pose to hold, and we step back whenever something is happening on its own.
Afterwards you receive a private online gallery within two to four days. Your hand-edited, high-resolution photographs follow within two to four weeks of your selection, with full rights to print and share them.

At-home family photography FAQ
What if my home is small?
Small homes photograph beautifully. A bed by a window, a sofa or a kitchen table is all a session needs, and tight spaces often produce warmer, closer photographs than large ones.
What time of day is best?
Whenever the light is best in your main rooms, balanced against nap times. We ask about both when we plan, and we build the session around your day rather than ours.
Can pets be in the photographs?
Yes, and they usually improve them.
What should we wear?
A simple palette of two or three colours that sit well together, and clothes the children are comfortable moving in. We advise before the day.
Can grandparents join?
Yes. Tell us when we plan so we can photograph the family frames while everyone is fresh.
What if the children will not cooperate?
That is normal and we plan for it. The session follows the children rather than a shot list, and the unposed moments are usually the ones you keep.
Where this sits
At home, in the studio, or outdoors
At home is the most personal of the three and the easiest with very young children. The family photo studio gives controlled light and a clean backdrop whatever the weather, and outdoor family sessions give space to run and a sense of London around you.
Full lengths and prices for all three settings are on the family pricing page.
