Do I get a 3D virtual gallery with my family session?
Yes, with any session of two hours or more. Your finished photographs hang in The Growing Gallery: a private, password-protected 3D gallery you walk through and share with family anywhere. It is free for two years, and every session you book after that adds a floor rather than replacing the last one. One-hour and 1.5-hour sessions don’t include it.
What if my children don’t cooperate?
Children are wonderfully unpredictable - and that’s part of the fun. We adapt with games, movement and breaks, following their lead. Something beautiful always emerges.
How do I choose the best family photographer in London?
Look for a family photographer in London with a relaxed style, a portfolio of complete galleries rather than single highlights, and real experience with children - and ask who will actually be there on the day. With us it is always the two of us, Joy and Annie.
Where do family photoshoots in London take place?
A family photoshoot London session can happen in a favourite park, by the river or another meaningful spot. We arrange each London family photoshoot around your family, the light and the little ones.
What is the difference between a family photoshoot and family portraits?
A family photoshoot captures relaxed, candid moments, while family portraits are more considered, fine-art frames. Our family portrait photography blends both in a single relaxed session.
How much does a family photoshoot in London cost?
Sessions start at £225 for an hour outdoors, £295 in the studio and £395 at home, with the number of hand-edited photographs rising alongside the length of the booking. The full price list is on our family photoshoot prices page.
Do you travel to North London?
Yes, and to every other part of the city. Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Regent’s Park and Alexandra Palace are the settings we suggest most for north London family photography, and there is no travel charge anywhere inside London.
What ages do you photograph?
Every age. Newborns, toddlers who will not sit still, school-age children, teenagers who would rather be anywhere else, and grandparents. Sessions are paced around whoever in the group needs the most patience.
How long is a family session?
Between one and four hours depending on the package. An hour suits a single location with younger children; longer bookings give you more than one setting and more time for children to settle.
Can grandparents and extended family join?
Yes, and multi-generational sessions are some of our favourites. Tell us the numbers when you book so we can plan the location and the pacing around the group.
What should we wear?
Coordinate rather than match, and choose things everyone is comfortable moving in. We have written a full guide on what to wear for a family photoshoot, and we will talk it through with you before the day.
Is 30 minutes enough for family photos?
Rarely, with children. Our shortest session is an hour, which suits one location and younger children; two hours or more gives time for a second setting and for everyone to settle, and includes the private 3D gallery.
Where is the best place for a family photoshoot in London?
For young children, the park nearest home; for a landmark feel, the riverside walks and bridges, Greenwich Park or Hampstead Heath in the golden hour; in winter, the hire studio. Our locations guide lists the spots we use most.
