What you pay for

What a studio photoshoot in London actually costs

A studio photoshoot London session starts at £295. That buys an hour and a half and thirty hand-edited photographs - enough for one strong look, unhurried.

Most people take the two-and-a-half-hour package at £395, which lifts you to fifty photographs and makes two or three distinct looks comfortable rather than rushed. Above that, £495 gives you three and a half hours and seventy photographs, and £595 gives you four and a half hours and ninety.

The price covers the session, the direction and the editing. There is no separate charge for the studio itself, for lighting, or for the time we spend afterwards finishing your images.

Why people choose a photo studio in London

The weather stops mattering

An outdoor session lives and dies by the forecast. A professional photography studio in London does not. Your date holds whatever February is doing, which matters more than people expect when they are booking six weeks ahead around a due date or a family visit.

The light is a decision, not a lottery

Outdoors we work with the light we are given. In the studio we build it. Soft and low for a newborn, crisp and directional for a portfolio, warm and wrapped for a maternity portrait - the same room gives you all three.

One room, several looks

Because nothing has to be travelled between, a London studio photo shoot spends its hours on photographs rather than on logistics. That is why the longer packages step up in finished images so quickly: the time converts almost entirely into frames.

Choosing between photography studios in London

Search for the best photography studios in London and most of what comes back is room hire - a space by the hour, lit or unlit, with you supplying the camera, the lighting and the editing. That is a different product from this one, and it is the single most useful thing to check before you compare two prices, because the two numbers are not measuring the same thing.

So the first question to ask any of the studios in London for photography you are weighing up is what the quoted figure includes. A room-only rate can look cheaper on the page and still cost considerably more by the time a photographer, an assistant and a retoucher have been booked around it. What is quoted here is the whole session - nothing further to arrange and nobody else to hire.

After that, judge on the same things you would judge any photographer on. Look at a complete gallery from a single session rather than a set of highlights, since consistency across a shoot is what separates a strong studio from a lucky frame. Ask how the session is directed, which matters more than the kit list if you are not used to being photographed. And ask what you actually receive - image count, resolution, retouching and turnaround. The best photo studio London can offer you is the one whose answers to those four questions fit what you need the pictures to do.

Privacy, which matters more than people expect

Maternity portraits, newborn sessions and portfolio work all involve a degree of exposure - sometimes literally, more often just the ordinary self-consciousness of being looked at. A private room with nobody walking past changes how people hold themselves, and it shows in the photographs.

Studio photography FAQ

What should I wear?

Bring a few outfits and we will help you choose on the day. Solid colours and textures photograph beautifully in studio.

Can I bring my family or partner?

Absolutely. Studio sessions work wonderfully for individuals, couples and families alike.

How should I choose between studios in London for photography?

Ask what the quoted price actually covers. Some quotes are for the room alone and leave you to bring a photographer, lighting and an editor. Ours is a photographed session: the studio, the direction, the lighting and the finished images are one price.

Is a professional photo studio in London worth it over an outdoor session?

It depends what you want the pictures to feel like. Studio work is deliberate and controlled, and it suits portraits, portfolios and newborns particularly well. Outdoor work is looser and more seasonal. Neither is better - and at £295 against £225 for the entry package, cost is rarely the deciding factor.

Do you photograph portfolios and headshots in the studio?

Yes. Model portfolio work is one of the settings the studio suits best, and the longer packages exist partly for exactly that kind of multi-look shoot.

Can we shoot in the studio and outdoors on the same day?

Tell us at the enquiry stage and we will talk it through. It usually works better as a longer studio package with a short walk outside than as two half-sessions, because moving location costs time that would otherwise be spent photographing.

Do I need to bring anything?

A few outfit options and anything you would like in the pictures. Everything else - the space, the lighting, the backdrops - is already there and included in the price.
